MacGyver Graphic Novel T-Shirt Design Contest

MacGyver is getting his own comic book series, and the folks at Creative Allies want to create a t-shirt to showcase the new comic.  There's a contest for the t-shirt design, with the winner getting $500, but there's also a contest for the slogan to use with the design.  Submissions must be made through the Creative Allies Facebook page.  There's no cash prize for the winning slogan, but the winner will receive a roll of duct tape, a free shirt, a Swiss army knife, and a paper clip.  The deadline for submissions is October 2nd.

Cleveland's "What's in a Name?" Contest

The city of Cleveland, Tennessee is holding a contest to come up with a name for the city, similar to Nashville's "Music City" or Knoxville's "Dogwood City."  Residents and non-residents can submit ideas, either by mail or email, up until the contest deadline of September 30th.  The person who comes up with the winning entry will receive $1,000.

The JISU (Joy In Siblings United) Experience helps to brings separated siblings closer together.  Right now they need a new slogan, and they're holding a slogan contest where everyone gets one entry (either by mail or email).  The prize for the best slogan is $100, and the contest deadline is September 15th.

Fair & Bare sells "designer ethical threads."  View their current shirts here for an idea of what they're looking for -- some of the shirts are funny but others are just cool designs.  For accepted slogan ideas or shirt concepts, they pay £50 each, or for complete designs they pay £200.  This site looks like it's just getting started, so if you have some ideas they'll like, send them in.

SnorgTees sells humorous t-shirts, and if you can come up with a design or a slogan they like, they'll pay you $150, plus they'll give you one free shirt from their site.  Submit by email as often as you like.  To get an idea of the kind of humor they're looking for, two of their current shirts are

T-Shirt Hell

T-Shirt Hell is a website that sells shirts unlike those that you'll find on many other sites.  Their motto is "where all the bad shirts go."  As an example of the type of humor they're looking for, check out their Top 10 Sellers list on the right side of their page.  You can submit general shirt ideas, or you can submit ideas relating to their current Topical Idea Contest, but either way if they like your idea, you'll get $200 plus one free shirt.

ThinkGeek

ThinkGeek sells t-shirts, electronics, and novelty items.  They accept submissions for t-shirt slogan ideas, and if your idea is chosen, you'll receive $250.  Or, you can opt for a $300 ThinkGeek gift certificate if you'd rather have that.  You can read their guidelines on this page.  (You must be logged in to see them, so if you don't have a ThinkGeek account, you'll have to sign up for one -- it's free.)  They won't respond to all submissions, so if you get a response that's probably a good sign.

Crooked Monkey

Crooked Monkey is a website that sells funny and cool t-shirts.  You can submit t-shirt design ideas (and slogans) via email.  If your submission is used you'll get $100, plus a free shirt with your design on it.  Look around the site to see what kind of humor they are looking for.

Capture the Catskills finalists chosen

The five finalists for the Capture the Catskills slogan contest have been revealed, and they can be read in this article.  If one of your slogans made it, congrats!  There were over 3700 entries.  You can vote for one of the slogans here (click the survey link when the page opens).

Chargrilled

Chargrilled is a U.K.-based website selling funny, silly, and off-the-wall t-shirts.  You can submit slogans or designs, and submitted ideas get voted on by the site's visitors.  If Chargrilled uses your slogan or design, you can potentially earn over £100.  Their guidelines aren't very specific, but if you read the terms and conditions, they say that you'll be paid "the value of one full-priced t-shirt" for your accepted idea, and if the shirt with your design or slogan on it sells 30 times in the first 30 days, Chargrilled will pay you an additional £100.

Teesort.com

Teesort.com is another web site where you can earn money for designing t-shirts.  The site's guidelines aren't very specific; if your shirt design or slogan is selected, you could win "cash prizes," "a lifetime supply of T-shirts," and "royalty on each T-shirt sold."  You'll have to sign up for a free account in order to submit designs, and then your submissions are voted on by the site's visitors.

Grumpy Git Clothing

Grumpy Git Clothing is a U.K.-based clothing company that sells t-shirts and aprons with funny slogans and designs on them.  They have an ongoing design competition that pay£250 for accepted designs (as voted on by the site's community).  But you don't have to submit a design to get paid -- for accepted slogans without any artwork, they pay £100 apiece.  (See the Submit a slogan! section toward the bottom of the competition page.)

Kate Harper Designs

Kate Harper Designs uses "edgy quotes with a twist of humor."  See the samples shown on their guidelines page for an idea of what they're looking for.  Rather than traditional cards with an outside and inside, they want quotes, 20 words or less, that can be used on the front of a card (or on other products).  Payment varies, but averages about $50 per accepted submission.
