T-Shirt Hell - new submissions page

T-Shirt Hell revamped its idea submission and guidelines page. The new page is combined with the site's general contact form:

https://tshirthell.com/pages/contact-us

The same payment applies for selected ideas ($1 per shirt sold during the first month, plus a free shirt) but the site no longer posts specific calls for seasonal or current topics.

(Their payment model has changed several times over the years.) Not a great payoff for writers, but unless you want to sell your shirts yourself on a site like Zazzle, there aren't a lot of other options.

Our Current Topical Idea request is: Holiday Shirts - Give us your best ideas involving anything Christmas/Hannukah/Kwanza Holiday related.

Squadhelp is a platform where companies can create contests for creatives to come up with logos, company/brand/product names, or taglines (slogans). The site has four currently active tagline contests, each with a prize of $100 or more.

It's free to sign up with Squadhelp, and free to enter these contests. Two of the current contests will require you to sign an NDA before viewing the contest details.

Looking for original ideas for St. Patrick's Day. Please... no "Fuck me, I'm Irish" ideas or other been-done designs. ORIGINAL ONLY.

Random Shirts

Random Shirts sells funny t-shirts. Like other t-shirt sites (SnorgTees, T-Shirt Hell, etc.) Random Shirts wants people to submit funny or clever shirt ideas. If your shirt is selected for printing, you could receive your choice of $99 or five shirts.

One thing to be aware of when submitting to Random Shirts: your shirt can be used publicly (posted on Facebook to see how people like it) and you may not receive anything for it. From the site's terms and conditions:

All submissions made to Random Shirts become the property of Random Shirts and may be used without further permission by the submitter and without compensation to the submitter.

RSVP greeting card submission guidelines

RSVP (part of Sellers Publishing Inc.) makes greeting cards, note cards, books, and other products. Full submission guidelines can be found on their FAQ page.

RSVP is open to freelance submissions by email (preferred) or mail. They publish greeting cards for the typical occasions, plus seasonal cards. They're looking for authentic contemporary voices. They generally steer clear of rhymed and/or religious submissions. No limit on the number of card ideas to submit at one time.

They may or may not reply to all subs; if you don't hear from them within four months, they say it's safe to assume your submission was rejected. For accepted verse, RSVP pays a flat fee (not specified) plus samples.

T-Shirt Hell seeking Thanksgiving-themed ideas

T-Shirt Hell's current topical request:

We want your best shirts ideas involving Thanksgiving. Looking for funny and original ideas only.

If your idea is selected, you could win a free shirt and possibly some cash.

Squadhelp minimum payout threshold

If you earn any money on Squadhelp, you must have $25 in your account before you can request a payout. Squadhelp's customer support confirmed this $25 threshold recently, even though the website's FAQ clearly states there is no minimum threshold:

Squadhelp has refused to comment on when their website will be updated to show the correct information.

Oatmeal Studios: current greeting card needs

Oatmeal Studios is currently seeking specific birthday greeting card ideas (in addition to general submissions):

We are also looking for more birthday ideas that poke fun at getting older and birthday ideas that are political.  We would especially like some humor featuring Kamala Harris (for birthday if possible).

Closed greeting card markets

Not quite as important as knowing which markets accept submissions is knowing which markets don't -- so you can avoid wasting your time, energy and postage. The greeting markets below no longer accept unsolicited submissions (either temporarily or permanently).

• Kalan LP - No longer accepts freelance submissions.
• GrammaBurp - Not accepting freelance submissions at this time.
• Caddylak Graffix - Website has been taken down.
• Shoebox - Not accepting card ideas.
• Gallant Greetings - Not accepting verse submissions at this time.

Viabella

Viabella purchases art and verse for use on greeting cards. Their writers' and artists' guidelines are refreshingly straightforward.

Submissions must be made through their art or verse web forms. (Links are at the bottom of the guidelines page.) Don't submit more than once a month. Payment for accepted verse ranges from $50 to $100, with humor generally getting a higher payout.

One nice thing about Viabella is that they only use purchased material on greeting cards and stationery items, so writers and artists "are free to sell your accepted submission to others outside of this industry."

Check out Viabella's online store for an idea of the type of cards they sell.
